Chattogram:Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized the city's long-standing tradition of communal harmony, characterizing it as a model of peace and security.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mayor Shahadat urged the community to uphold an inclusive environment where individuals from all religious backgrounds can celebrate their festivals harmoniously. He expressed confidence that, with cooperation, this year's Durga Puja would be celebrated with joy by all.
The mayor made these remarks as the chief guest at a clothes and rice distribution event for the Hindu community, organized by former city BNP leader Abdul Mannan in the Dewan Bazar Kata Pahar area. He highlighted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's directive to ensure that Hindu community members can celebrate their festivals exuberantly.
Local leaders from political, religious, and business sectors, as well as law enforcement representatives, attended the event, where the mayor reiterated the BNP's commitment to ensuring equal rights for all communities.
