Chattogram:Approval has been granted for the sale of 133 lots of goods in two e-auctions conducted by the Chattogram Customs House. These auctions saw 45 lots approved in the regular auction and 88 in the special auction. However, four lots were cancelled and three temporarily suspended across both auctions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Assistant Commissioner of Chattogram Customs, Nazmul Hossain, confirmed the approval today. The information was announced through notifications issued on Tuesday afternoon. The decision was made with the Commissioner's approval, following recommendations from the auction committee meeting held on October 6.

In the regular auction, 148 containers across 103 lots were evaluated, with 73 containers belonging to 45 lots receiving sale approval. Additionally, one lot was cancelled, and nine containers from two lots were temporarily suspended, while 46 lots did not receive approval. Moreover, no bids were received for 13 containers across nine lots. In the special auction, decisions were made on 278 containers over 92 lots, with 274 containers across 88 lots approved for sale. One lot was temporarily suspended, and three lots were cancelled.

Nazmul Hossain stated that buyers of approved lots must clear the goods within 15 working days from the date the order is issued, paying the stipulated price, along with applicable taxes like advance income tax and VAT. If goods are cleared within this period, no warehouse rent will be charged. However, if buyers fail to clear the goods by the deadline, they must apply for an extension, which the Commissioner may grant for up to seven days. In special circumstances, additional time may also be provided.

The notification also specifies that if goods are not cleared within the stipulated or extended deadline, warehouse rent will be charged, and the sale approval might be cancelled, resulting in forfeiture of the security deposit. Buyers must comply with all import policy conditions and verify goods' quality and usability through necessary testing. The delivery order must be certified as proof of payment into the Chattogram Customs House treasury, with officials verifying all related conditions and documents before accepting it. Any discrepancies during delivery must be reported to the appropriate authorities for legal action.

Nazmul Hossain emphasized that current laws and regulations are being adhered to in auctioning the goods, and buyers must fulfill all conditions to clear their goods within the stipulated time.
