Chatra Dal Leader Jailed During July Uprising Passes Away

Satkhira: Former Joint Secretary of the Satkhira District Chatra Dal, who was imprisoned during the July uprising, passed away today from a heart attack while undergoing treatment at the Satkhira Medical College and Hospital here. The deceased is Sajid Mahmud, 25, a resident of the Parulia Union in the Debhata upazila of the district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md. Shahin Islam, member secretary of Satkhira town Chatra Dal, stated that Sajid suddenly became ill after suffering a heart attack on Thursday night. He was rushed to the hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead at 2:45 am.

Sajid Mahmud was laid to rest at his family graveyard in Parulia today following a Namaz-e-Janaza after Juma (Friday) prayers, Shahin added.
