Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today announced the formation of a new charter for Bangladesh, emphasizing the importance of building national unity through dialogue. "What we want to form is to make a charter of the mass uprising, which will be the charter of new Bangladesh. It will be based on unity. There will be elections; there will be all but we should not move from the charter," Yunus declared during his opening speech at an event in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event witnessed the submission of reports from four reform commissions to Chief Adviser Yunus at his office in Tejgaon. These reports included specific recommendations for state reforms. Yunus emphasized that the proposed charter would represent a national commitment, transcending any partisan agendas, and that all political parties would endorse it.
Yunus described the charter as a vital document for the nation, asserting that elections would be an integral component of the charter, conducted in the spirit of unity. He warned that without such unity, the essence of the charter could be lost. He highlighted the report submission ceremony as a historic moment, marking a significant step in the nation's journey to rebuild from past challenges.
Reflecting on the nation's resurgence from difficult times, Yunus underscored the importance of the reports presented by the reform commissions. In his concluding remarks, Yunus called for the elimination of overlaps and repetitions in the reform commission reports to ensure clarity and coherence. At the event, leaders of the Constitution Reform Commission, the Election Reform Commission, the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, and the Police Reform Commission formally handed over their reports to the chief adviser, marking a pivotal moment in the country's reform process.
