Char Farmers Encouraged to Cultivate Watermelon for Better Income

Sundarganj: Agricultural experts have urged char farmers to cultivate watermelon on a larger scale to boost income, highlighting the land’s high suitability for the crop. They made this call while addressing a field day on successful watermelon cultivation at Vatikapasia village under Kapasia union in Sundarganj upazila of the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, District Training Officer of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Md Asaduzzaman attended the programme as the chief guest, with Upazila Agriculture Officer Rashidul Kabir presiding over the event. Speakers emphasized that watermelon cultivation on char land requires relatively low cost and can yield significant profit if farmers follow proper guidance.



Successful farmer Moshiur Rahman shared his experience, encouraging others to cultivate the crop. Experts had earlier discussed modern farming methods to motivate farmers to expand watermelon cultivation in the coming seasons. Farmers present at the event expressed satisfaction over the yield and showed interest in cultivating the crop in the future.
