Chandpur-2 Jamaat-Alliance Candidate Vows to Free Matlab from Terrorism, Extortion

Chandpur: Md. Billal Hossain, candidate of the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance for the Chandpur-2 constituency, has committed to eradicating terrorism and extortion in Matlab if elected in the upcoming 13th parliamentary election. Billal Hossain, acting secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), assured that there would be no discrimination in Matlab and that extremism and extortion would not be tolerated under his tenure.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Billal Hossain shared these commitments during an exclusive interview with BSS district correspondent Abdus Salam Azad Jewel. A founding member of the LDP, Hossain has been associated with the party for 22 years and has previously been involved in BNP politics during his student life. Professionally, he is a businessman.



In his electoral promises, Hossain highlighted the need to eliminate extortion and ensure no illegal sand extraction occurs in Matlab. He pledged employment opportunities for educated but unemployed youth and emphasized re-establishing democracy in consultation with the government. Regarding compliance with electoral codes, Hossain has instructed his leaders and activists to strictly adhere to the rules to ensure a fair election process.



Regarding the July Charter, Hossain highlighted the necessity of its implementation, which is crucial for holding elections on February 12. He urged voters to support the July Charter alongside the national parliamentary election.



Billal Hossain’s vision for the upcoming national election is one of fairness and equality, hoping for a level playing field in the Chandpur-2 constituency, where eight candidates are contesting. The constituency is home to 492,381 voters, with 155 polling centers and 919 polling booths established to facilitate the election process.
