Khulna: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin today voiced cautions against Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based threats looming over the upcoming general elections, emphasizing that the election commission (EC) is vigilant to counter such risks. “Election commission (EC) remained alert against any type of AI-based threat that can affect the upcoming polls,” Nasir Uddin stated while speaking to journalists before a meeting with Khulna divisional election officials at the Khulna Regional Election Commissioner’s Office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC highlighted that restoring voter confidence and encouraging them to return to polling centers is the EC’s primary challenge. Additionally, he pointed out the significant task of ensuring women voters’ participation in the electoral process. Nasir Uddin expressed optimism regarding law enforcement’s role in launching nationwide operations to recover illegal arms and reduce criminal activities before the elections.
The CEC assured the public of the EC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, impartial, and credible election. “Our activities will be shown in broad daylight; nothing could be staged in the darkness. If we fail to conduct it (free, fair election), the future Bangladesh will ask questions,” he asserted.
The gathering included high-ranking election officials, such as additional regional election officer and senior district and upazila-level election officials. The CEC later participated as the chief guest in the meeting with the election officials.
