Chattogram: Newvision Infrastructure and Engineering Limited has held discussions with the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) on attracting Japanese investment and technical cooperation for the port city's upcoming infrastructure development projects. The discussion took place on Tuesday between representatives of Newvision and CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain at the CDA headquarters.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on potential Japanese participation in communication infrastructure linked to the Matarbari Deep Sea Port, urban tourism facilities, transportation and regional connectivity, and sustainable urban development. The Newvision delegation sought details of the CDA's short-, medium-, and long-term development plans and expressed interest in identifying projects aligned with Japan's development priorities for investment and technical assistance.
The representatives highlighted their institutional links with leading Japanese construction firms, development organizations, and international companies, as well as their experience in providing Japanese technical coordination and logistical support for major projects in Bangladesh, including the Matarbari Deep Sea Port. The participants also discussed ways to promote Chattogram's tourism sector, improve transport infrastructure, and develop regional connectivity around the Matarbari port. The use of advanced technologies for environmentally sustainable urban development was also emphasized.
CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain stated that the authority was committed to developing Chattogram into an internationally competitive, green, attractive, and liveable city. He noted that Japan's construction expertise, strategic planning, and advanced technology are globally recognized. He further mentioned that the CDA was ready to offer favorable opportunities to Japanese companies for public-private partnership (PPP) ventures and equity-based foreign investment in its ongoing and future large-scale projects.
Several CDA officials, including CDA Member (Finance and Administration) Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, Member (Engineering and Planning) Md. Jamilur Rahman, Chief Engineer Ahmed Anwarul Nazrul, Deputy Chief City Planner Md. Abu Isa Ansari, Executive Engineers Ahmed Mainuddin and Md. Shamim, attended the meeting.
