Chattogram: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has emphasized that public awareness, alongside the City Corporation's mosquito eradication activities, is crucial to controlling dengue. He said dengue cannot be controlled through the City Corporation's efforts alone and that city residents must also take responsibility for eliminating Aedes mosquito breeding grounds. He made the remarks today while inspecting the CCC's intensive mosquito eradication drive in the city's Enayet Bazar area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program involved eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, applying larvicides and adulticides, and raising public awareness. Urging people not to panic but to seek medical advice if they are infected with dengue, Mayor Dr. Shahadat said necessary tests should be conducted if a fever persists for two or three days.
He said measures have been taken, including opening 'Dengue Management Cells' for patients at hospitals and relevant healthcare centers, as well as providing free dengue testing (NS1) and medical treatment. The Mayor also said initiatives are underway to establish a separate unit for pediatric dengue patients at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
