Dhaka: Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar announced that cattle raisers and firm operators experienced increased sales during this year's Eid-ul-Azha, leading to brisk business activities. The Eid season saw higher sales of cows, contributing to the financial success of local cattle businesses.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry confirmed that no cattle were imported this year. This statement was made by Adviser Akhtar while exchanging Eid greetings with ministry officials and employees. She highlighted the ministry's support, particularly from the livestock department, which aided cattle raisers and farm owners in achieving adequate production of sacrificial animals over the past year.
Akhtar noted that although there were some issues in preserving hides due to lack of experience, the government provided salt free of charge to assist in the preservation process. Despite these challenges, she mentioned that the rawhide prices were better than in previous years, even if they did not meet initial expectations.
