A case has been filed in connection with the death of a pregnant woman along with her twins in the womb 'due to wrong treatment' at a private hospital in Mymensingh.
The case was filed following a complaint lodged by the victim's husband, Mahbub Islam, against six people at Kotwali model police station on Saturday, said Shah Kamal Akand, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The accused are Rafiqul Islam, 35, owner of the Patient Care Hospital, Amit Hasan, 30, Dr Ashraful Haque Mollah, 45, Dr Arif Rabbani, 31, Mehdi, 27, and Tarek Miah, 30.
Besides, the District Civil Surgeon formed a four-member probe body to look into the matter.
The four-member probe body has been asked to submit a report within seven working days.
In this regard, District Civil Surgeon Dr Nazrul Islam said legal actions will be taken after they receive the probe report.
According to the case statement, the deceased, Rekha Akhter, 25, wife of Mahbub Alam of the district's Trishal upazila, was 13 weeks pregnant.
Rekha was admitted to Patient Care Hospital on Thursday afternoon with belly pain.
Later , the doctors of the hospital arranged an operation at night citing stones in her kidney.
When Rekha did not wake up after the operation, the hospital authorities said it was because of the anesthesia they gave her.
Later, she was forcefully sent to Chorkhai Community-Based Medical College Hospital in Mymensingh by Dr Ashraful Haque Molla and Dr Arif Rabbani.
Rekha and her unborn twins died on the way to the hospital early Friday, doctors of the Chorkhai Community-Based Medical College Hospital confirmed.
Later, when Rekha's family went back to Patient Care Hospital, the hospital authorities threatened them to leave the hospital.
On Friday morning, the victim's family held a demonstration in front of the hospital along with her dead body.
Sensing a hostile situation, doctors and staff of the hospital fled the scene.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Later, the civil surgeon sealed off the hospital.
