Chandpur: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu stated that the canal excavation programme will positively impact the rural economy. He emphasized that the initiative will utilize canal water for irrigation, improve drainage systems to alleviate waterlogging, allow tree planting along canal banks, and enable fish farming in the canals, all contributing to socio-economic development.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Dulu made these remarks during his visit to the Khordo canal in Shahrasti upazila. The programme's significance was highlighted as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to visit Chandpur and officially inaugurate the re-excavation work of the Khordo canal during his daylong visit tomorrow.
Chandpur-5 lawmaker Mominul Haque and local government officials accompanied the minister on his visit, reinforcing the collaborative effort to advance the rural economy through this strategic canal work.
