Khulna: The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is set to vaccinate over 1.72 lakh children as part of the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025, which will commence on October 12. An advocacy meeting was held on Monday at the City Health Building to discuss preparations for this significant public health initiative. KCC Administrator Md Feroz Sarkar attended the meeting as the chief guest.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, emphasizing the importance of achieving complete vaccination coverage. Officials assured the public of the safety of the typhoid vaccine, which has no harmful side effects.

The campaign will be rolled out in two phases. The initial phase, concentrating on schools, will take place from October 12 to 30. The subsequent phase, targeting community areas, is scheduled from November 1 to 13. The campaign aims to vaccinate children aged 9 to 15 at 134 primary schools, 112 secondary schools, 319 other educational institutions, and various community centers throughout the city.

To ensure the campaign’s success, Khulna has been divided into four zones. A workforce of 62 supervisors, 252 vaccinators, and 350 volunteers will be mobilized to guarantee smooth and efficient vaccine delivery.

Speakers at the meeting underscored that typhoid fever, transmitted through contaminated food and water, is preventable. They highlighted that vaccination is crucial in reducing infection risk among children and enhancing public health in Khulna.
