Dhaka: The government has decided to observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7, marking the historical release of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. A cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, took the decision at the Secretariat here this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision to reinstate the public holiday by declaring the day as an ‘A-category’ national observance was announced by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani at a press conference after the meeting at the Information Department at the Secretariat. Ghani stated that the cabinet has decided to observe November 7 with appropriate respect and recognition as a public holiday, reinstating the observance that had been cancelled by the previous government.
In addition to the decision regarding November 7, the cabinet meeting also set a target to produce 10,000 megawatts of solar electricity annually. Furthermore, July 6 has been declared as National Rural Development Day.
