Dhaka:The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has recommended the procurement of one additional cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar Energy Trading LLC. This decision was made under a long-term government-to-government agreement, alongside the approval for the purchase of one crore jute bags for the Ministry of Food.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the approvals were given during the 52nd CCGP meeting of the year, which was conducted virtually under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division is set to purchase the additional LNG cargo on December 23, 2026, at a rate of JKM minus US$0.10 per million British thermal units (MMBtu). This proposed price differs from the existing price under the long-term contract.

These bags will be procured by the Directorate General of Food across 50 packages, with 13 companies selected as bidders. The total contract value amounts to Tk 64,41,84,400.
The Ministry of Food submitted the proposal for the jute bag procurement, while the Energy and Mineral Resources Division put forward the proposal for the additional LNG purchase.
