Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has made an impassioned call for young people globally to envision their own ideal world and strive to make it a reality, rather than merely adapting to existing societal structures. Emphasizing their transformative potential, he urged youth to take courage in turning their dreams into tangible outcomes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser addressed these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of young parliamentary representatives from Sweden and Norway at the State Guest House Jamuna. He articulated that while conventional wisdom views youth as the future, he sees them as the present, highlighting their unique capabilities shaped by modern technology and upbringing.
The delegation included young political leaders from multiple parties such as the Moderate Youth Party, Social Democratic Youth Party, and Liberal Youth Party from Sweden, alongside the Young Conservatives and Red Youth from Norway. UNDP representatives and ambassadors from Sweden and Norway were also in attendance.
Professor Yunus engaged the delegation in discussions about political visions and pressing issues like the July Uprising, youth participation, and upcoming national elections. He underscored the historic significance of the July Uprising, particularly noting the active role of young women. Furthermore, he highlighted ongoing institutional reforms in Bangladesh, including the establishment of a Consensus Commission that has brought together over thirty political parties to reach a historic agreement known as the July Charter.
The Chief Adviser encouraged the young leaders to explore Bangladesh and its rich narrative of youth activism and resistance. He also discussed his "Theory of Three Zeros" aimed at fostering a new civilization characterized by zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration, and zero unemployment through entrepreneurship.
The meeting served as a platform for Professor Yunus to inspire and challenge the young delegates to harness their potential and contribute to shaping a future aligned with their aspirations.
