Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, the fearless frontline fighter of the July Uprising and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha. Hadi passed away while undergoing treatment at a Singapore hospital after battling for his life for six days.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan communicated the news of Hadi’s death to Professor Yunus over the phone. The Chief Adviser addressed the nation, conveying the tragic news and expressing his condolences. “May the Almighty Allah accept this immortal soldier of the struggle against fascism and hegemony as a martyr. We all pray this together,” he said.

The Chief Adviser prayed for the eternal peace of Hadi’s departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathies to Hadi’s bereaved wife, family members, relatives, and colleagues. Hadi, who was also an aspiring independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot on December 12 while he was on a battery-run auto-rickshaw on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station.
