Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus today emphasized the critical importance of ensuring safety, quality education, and nutrition for every girl child, underscoring that they must be transformed into skilled human resources as they are the future mothers and citizens of Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Yunus highlighted that children make up about 45 percent of Bangladesh’s total population, with nearly half being girls. He stressed that these future mothers and citizens must be equipped with the necessary resources and skills to contribute meaningfully to society. This statement was made in a message on the eve of National Girl Child Day-2025.

Professor Yunus described the girls as the dream of the future who will work without fear for the betterment of their country, holding their heads high on the global stage. He mentioned that the theme for National Girl Child Day-2025, ‘I am a girl child – I build dreams, I fight with courage, I work for the welfare of the country,’ is timely and appropriate.

He extended his heartfelt greetings to all the girl children of Bangladesh and their guardians, expressing gratitude to those involved in organizing the day’s programs. Reflecting on the role of women and girls in Bangladesh’s democratic transformation, he praised their contributions to the mass uprising of students, workers, and citizens, which envisioned a new Bangladesh.

Professor Yunus reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to ensuring the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of gender. He outlined the government’s initiatives to promote equality, including implementing constitutional and structural reforms based on the Women’s Affairs Reform Commission’s recommendations.

He concluded by wishing success for all programs organized in observance of National Girl Child Day-2025.
