Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas Day, the greatest religious festival of Christians. In a message on the eve of the day, he highlighted the significance of Jesus Christ, noting His birth in Bethlehem and His message of peace, justice, and liberation for humanity.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Yunus emphasized that one of the main goals of Jesus Christ’s life was to free humankind from sin and guide them on the path of truth, goodness, and justice. He remarked on Jesus’s devotion to serving the distressed, neglected, and starving, and how His teachings of forgiveness, love, and devotion to God continue to be exemplary ideals for His followers.
Professor Yunus also pointed out that Bangladesh serves as a shining example of communal harmony, where people have long respected various religions, cultures, and customs. He expressed hope that the Christmas celebrations would further strengthen this bond of harmony.
The chief adviser discussed the efforts of the present interim government to build a discrimination-free, justice-based, and prosperous Bangladesh for all, regardless of religion, caste, or community. He urged Christians to contribute towards realizing the dream of a New Bangladesh, inspired by patriotism and the ideals of humanity.
Professor Yunus concluded by wishing peace, prosperity, and well-being to all, particularly the Christian community.
