Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today issued a message on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CA emphasized Bangladesh's steadfast commitment to the Palestinian people's rights to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He highlighted Bangladesh's consistent support for the Palestinian struggle and condemned Israel's violations of human rights and international law in Gaza and the West Bank. These violations include the killing of civilians, attacks on hospitals and schools, destruction of property, displacement, and illegal occupation of Palestinian land.
Prof Muhammad Yunus drew parallels between Bangladesh's own history of struggle for freedom and the Palestinian cause. He mentioned the recent youth-led movement advocating for anti-discrimination and human dignity as a testament to the spirit of solidarity and justice.
The CA welcomed ongoing efforts for a ceasefire and peace in the Gaza Strip and expressed concern over ceasefire violations by Israeli forces. He urged countries supporting Israel to reconsider their stance and condemned the Israeli Knesset's attempt to impose sovereignty over the West Bank.
He also called for engagement with international justice processes to address alleged crimes by Israel. The CA praised countries that have recognized Palestine and urged others to do the same, reiterating the importance of a two-state solution for lasting peace in the region.
