CA Begins Packed 2nd Day of NY Tour with United Nations Engagements

New york: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will engage in at least 10 activities today, marking the second day of his visit, including attending the inaugural session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The chief adviser’s day will commence with a welcome reception hosted by UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, as stated by Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus will participate in the inaugural session of the 80th UNGA from 9am to 10am, accompanied by Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, and SDGs Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed. Following this, the chief adviser is scheduled to meet the director general of the WTO at 10:30 am, and subsequently, the President of the World Bank at 11 am.



A meeting with Her Majesty M¡xima, the Queen of the Netherlands, is planned for 11:30 am. Additionally, Prof Yunus will attend the “Fashion for Development (F4D): 13th Annual Official First Ladies Luncheon” at 12:30 pm. Another significant engagement includes his participation in a “Meeting of Public and Private Sector Leaders on Social Innovation: Mobilizing Financing through Social Innovation” at 2:45 pm in New York.



The day will conclude with the chief adviser attending a reception hosted by United States President Donald Trump and Mrs. Melania Trump at 7 pm. Prof Yunus arrived in New York on Monday via a commercial Emirates flight, landing at John F Kennedy International Airport at 3:00 pm (NY time).



On the first day of his visit, Prof Yunus met with Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the sidelines of events at the UN headquarters. He also held discussions with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
