Rome: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived here around 5:00 pm (local time) today to join the annual World Food Forum (WFF), the flagship event of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy, ATM Rokebul Haque, received the Chief Adviser at Rome Fiumicino Airport. Earlier in the day, a Bangladesh Biman Airlines flight carrying the Chief Adviser and his entourage departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka around 11.30 (BST) am.
As per the tour schedule, Professor Yunus is set to deliver a speech as an invited guest at the main session of the WFF. Additionally, he will engage in meetings with high-profile personalities on the sidelines of the event. These meetings will concentrate on pressing global issues such as food security, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development.
The WFF serves as a platform for policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs from around the globe to exchange views on the future of food systems. This year's event is being held at the FAO Headquarters in Rome from 10 to 17 October. Professor Yunus is scheduled to return home on October 15.
