Businessman Robbed of Tk 6 Lakh in Siddhirganj

Siddhirganj:A businessman was robbed of Tk 6 lakh after withdrawing the money from a bank and heading home on his motorcycle in Siddhirganj on Sunday afternoon. The victim, Md Habibullah, 31, was also injured after the private car used by the alleged robbers hit his motorcycle while he was chasing them.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Habibullah withdrew Tk 6 lakh from BRAC Bank in the Dash Tola area of Chittagong Road. He was returning to his home in Mizmizi Dakshinpara with the money when he reached the head of Mouchak Chalu Haji Road on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. At this point, a white private car coming from behind blocked his motorcycle.

One of the three people inside the car allegedly reached out through the window and snatched the bag containing the money. The car then made a U-turn at Mouchak and headed towards Chittagong Road. Habibullah chased the car on his motorcycle, but near Madaninagar Madrasa, the car allegedly hit his motorcycle, causing him to fall onto the road and sustain injuries. The alleged robbers then fled towards Kanchpur Bridge.

Siddhirganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Yusuf Ali stated that police visited the spot after receiving the information. He mentioned that CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being collected, and they are investigating the incident to identify and arrest those involved.
