Businessman Arrested in Lakshmipur with Six Illegal Election Seals

Lakshmipur: Police in Lakshmipur have arrested a businessman, Sohel Rana, with six illegally made election seals. A mobile phone and a computer were also seized during the operation.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Sohel was detained Tuesday afternoon from Mariam Press on Puraton Adalat Road in the town. He is a resident of Tumchar Union in Sadar Upazila and the owner of Mariam Press.



Police, acting on a tip-off, raided the press and recovered six seals allegedly intended for use in elections. Executive Magistrate Hasan Mahmud Nahid visited the spot after being informed and later confiscated the seals, mobile phone, and computer, taking Sohel to the police station.



Sohel told police that he had made the seals on order but did not disclose who had placed the request.



Executive Magistrate Hasan Mahmud Nahid stated that producing election seals at the press is illegal and that a case will be filed against the accused.



Additional District Police Superintendent (Administration and Finance) Hosain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi confirmed the raid, saying Sohel was arrested with six election seals and that police are continuing the operation to apprehend others involved while preparing a case.
