Gopalganj: Two people, including the driver of a truck, lost their lives, and at least 20 others sustained injuries in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district tonight. The identities of the deceased and injured remain unconfirmed at this time.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place around 9:00 pm in the Dakshin Fukra area of Kashiani. Officer-in-Charge Khandaker Hafizur Rahman of Kashiani Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that the crash caused significant disruption, bringing traffic to a halt on both sides of the highway for an extended period.
Local authorities and volunteers swiftly initiated rescue operations. The injured were transported to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex and Gopalganj 250-Bed General Hospital for medical treatment. Reports indicate that several victims are in critical condition.
Law enforcement and fire service personnel were dispatched to the accident site to manage the aftermath and clear the debris from the roadway.
