Bus-helper’s Killer Gets Life Imprisonment in Khulna

Khulna: A trial court here today convicted a rickshaw-puller and sentenced him to life imprisonment for killing a bus-helper in the city around four years back. The convict, identified as Hassan Sheikh, a resident of Mollabari area under Sonadanga Police Station, was also fined Taka 20,000, in default, to suffer six months more behind the bar. Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sharif Hossain Haider found him guilty of the murder charge and pronounced the verdict in presence of him in the court.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the prosecution story detailed that rickshaw-puller Hassan Sheikh was involved in an altercation with bus-helper Shabbir Sheikh over a minor issue on February 11, 2021. The argument escalated, leading to Hassan Sheikh fatally attacking Shabbir with a knife inside a bus located at the Tiger Garden area under Sonadanga Police Station in the city.

The victim's father, Rafiqul Islam, filed a case with the Sonadanga Police Station the following day. Hassan Sheikh was apprehended by the police on the same day of the murder. After completing the investigation, police filed charges against Hassan Sheikh on April 25, 2021.
