Burimari: The trade activities at Lalmonirhat's Burimari land port, connecting with India's Changrabandha Port, have been suspended for three days from Monday to Wednesday on the occasion of the Hindu festival Kali Puja (Diwali). Although trade activities have been halted since Monday morning, passport-holding passengers traveling between the two countries continue to move without disruption.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Niaz Nahid, General Secretary of the C and F Agent Association of Burimari Land Port, confirmed that import-export operations are closed for three days due to the Hindu religious festival. Despite this suspension, administrative activities within the customs house and the port remain active. Nahid assured that normal trade operations will resume after the festival concludes.
Burimari Land Port Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan explained that the closure is a result of a government holiday in India for Diwali. The Changrabandha Business Association communicated the decision to suspend all commercial activities. Both import and export activities between the two nations are expected to return to normal after the celebrations.
Reiterating the information, Burimari Land Port Customs Assistant Commissioner Delwar Hossain stated that traders at the Indian Changrabandha Customs Station have paused import-export operations for three days in observance of Kali Puja. However, he emphasized that other functions of the customs house and the port continue as usual during this period.
