Dhaka: Aminul Islam Bulbul and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim emerged victorious in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors' election held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. Bulbul and Fahim were elected from Dhaka Division in Category-1, representing Districts and Divisions, after each securing 15 votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mukhlesur Rahman was elected from Rajshahi Division with 8 votes, while Hasanuzzaman from Rangpur Division received 7 votes. Shahadat Sajal, a competitor of Hasanuzzaman, managed to secure only one vote.
In the Category-1 election, unopposed candidates included Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury and Asif Akbar from Chattogram, Abdur Razzak and Julfiqar Ali Khan from Khulna, Rahat Shams from Sylhet, and Shakhawat Hossain from Barishal.
Faruque Ahmed, a former BCB president, was elected in Category-2, representing Dhaka Metropolis Clubs, with 42 votes. Iftekhar Rahman Mithu and Manzur Alam, who served on the previous board, were re-elected with 34 and 39 votes, respectively.
Other directors elected from the club category included Ishtiaque Sadeque (42), Adnan Rahman Dipon (40), Fayazur Rahman (42), Abul Bashar (40), Amzad Hossain (40), Shahnian Taneem (42), Mokhsedul Kamal (41), M Nazmul Islam (37), and Mehrab Alam Chowdhury (41).
In Category-3, former Bangladesh skipper Khaled Mashud Pilot achieved a significant victory over Jahangirnagar University councillor Debabrata Paul, winning 35-7 votes.
The National Sports Council (NSC) completed the list of 25 directors by nominating Ishfaq Ahsan and Yasir Mohammad Faysal Ashik as directors. In total, 34 candidates contested across the three categories, with 115 votes cast out of a possible 156, resulting in a voter turnout of 73.71 percent.
In the voting process, 30 votes were cast out of 35 in Category-1, 42 from 77 in Category-2, and 43 from 45 in Category-3. There was an option for e-voting, with 19 councillors from Category-1, 35 from Category-2, and 4 from Category-3 utilizing this method.
