Dhaka: Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury announced today that the national budget for fiscal year 2027 will be presented in Jatiya Sangsad on June 11, with an emphasis on each and every citizen of Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Finance Minister, speaking to reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat, emphasized that despite inheriting a fragile economy characterized by a significant debt burden, rising poverty rates, and declining investment, the government is committed to preparing a budget that considers the needs of all citizens. The intention is to foster economic participation among all citizens to ensure that the benefits are distributed equitably.

Khosru expressed optimism about the upcoming budget, viewing it as a positive step towards addressing the inherited economic challenges. He stated that while the transition to a more stable economy will take time, the forthcoming budget marks a significant beginning in this journey.

The Finance Minister highlighted the government's aim to shift the economy towards an investment-based model, distancing it from previous practices of excessive money printing and reliance on bank loans, which have negatively impacted the economy. Efforts are underway to restore robust public financial management, reducing the likelihood of the country falling into a debt trap caused by high interest repayments.

Khosru reiterated the importance of reducing dependency on loans and increasing investments, noting that the government is actively working to rectify past economic distortions and achieve macroeconomic stability. This, he believes, will safeguard the interests of the people and help Bangladesh realize its ambition of becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
