Dhaka: The proceedings of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will be telecast live tomorrow on Bangladesh Television (BTV), tribunal's prosecutor Gazi M H Tamim informed today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Prosecutor of the tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, announced at a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club that the formal charge for crimes against humanity during the July-August mass uprising will be pressed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tomorrow. The chief prosecutor also mentioned on his verified Facebook page on May 20 that the courtrooms have been digitalized to facilitate the telecasting of court activities.
It was further noted that any portion of the trial proceedings can be broadcast live or published in a recorded format with the tribunal's permission. Besides Sheikh Hasina, formal charges against former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun will also be submitted to the tribunal tomorrow.
The ICT's investigation team submitted their probe reports to the tribunal against Sheikh Hasina and others on May 12. The prosecution team has leveled allegations of mass killings and crimes against humanity against the ousted Awami League government, its political cadres, and a section of officials from the then administration before the tribunal.
