Dhaka: The government has made an arrangement to telecast the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside several other partners through Bangladesh Television (BTV), Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon said here. In a statement issued today, the minister mentioned that the ministry would shortly provide official details to media outlets regarding the broadcasting arrangement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon expressed his satisfaction over the development, stating, “I am very happy to inform the countrymen that BTV will broadcast the World Cup 2026 along with some other partners.” Currently on an official visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese government, the minister expressed gratitude to media organizations and ministry officials who contributed to the process.
The minister extended his thanks to all involved parties, including media outlets and the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), for their efforts in securing the broadcasting rights. He also acknowledged the role of ministry officials in facilitating this arrangement. “I would like to thank all the media outlets, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and all the officials of our ministry who are directly or indirectly involved in this process,” he stated.
Minister Swapon credited the achievement to the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and expressed hope that all World Cup matches could be broadcast without spending public funds. “We have achieved this success under the wise guidance of our leader Mr. Tarique Rahman. I hope that we will be able to broadcast all the games of the World Cup without spending any public money,” he added.
Further details regarding the broadcasting rights and partnership arrangements are expected to be announced by the ministry later today.
