Dinajpur: Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Chief News Editor (CNE) Manikul Azad's mother, Jobeda Begum, passed away around 5pm today while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dinajpur town. She was 82, family sources said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jobeda Begum is survived by five sons, two daughters, relatives, and well-wishers. Her funeral will be held at Bazar Deha village graveyard in Pirganj upazila, Thakurgaon district, following a namaz-e-janaza at 10am tomorrow.
Despite residing in a remote village, Jobeda Begum's children pursued higher education from prestigious institutions. Her family credits her for encouraging them to achieve higher degrees and contribute to societal welfare.
BNP Secretary General and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed sorrow over her passing. In a condolence message, he prayed for her eternal peace and extended sympathy to the bereaved family.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Prime Minister's Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly, and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury also mourned her death. They conveyed profound sympathy and prayed for the departed soul's eternal peace.
