BSMMU Appoints Prof. Dr M Shahinul Alam as New Vice-Chancellor.

Dhaka: Prof. Dr M Shahinul Alam has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The Health and Family Welfare Ministry issued a gazette notification regarding this appointment on Wednesday. Dr. Shahinul, who is a noted hepatologist and currently the Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the university, will serve as the temporary VC until further notice, as stated in a BSMMU release today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the position of vice chancellor at BSMMU became vacant following the appointment of its former VC, Prof Dr M Sayedur Rahman, as a special assistant to the health and family welfare ministry with the status of a state minister on November 10. Prof. Shahinul Alam, a distinguished scientist, has made significant contributions to the field with 160 publications to his name. He has also presented his research at fifteen international conferences across countries such as the UK, Singapore, India, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea,
Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Turkey, and Hong Kong.
