Dhaka: Bangladesh Sangbadpathro Karmachari Federation (BSKF) and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers (BFUNPW) today demanded the swift establishment of the 10th wage board for journalists and newspaper employees, alongside the full implementation of the 9th wage board award across all newspapers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the leaders of these prominent media employee organizations voiced their demands during a joint human chain and protest event held outside the Jatiya Press Club in the city earlier today, as per a press release.
Presiding over the event was BSKF President Matiur Rahman Talukder, with BFUNPW President Md Alamgir Hossain Khan serving as the chief speaker. The program was conducted by BSKF Secretary General Md Khairul Islam, while speeches were delivered by BFUNPW Secretary General Mushtaq Ahmad, Senior Executive Member Mohammad Ali Khan, BSKF Joint Secretary General Md Tanvir Hossain, Md Tazammel Haque, and Md Jahangir Hossain, among others.
The BSKF and BFUNPW organized this protest to advance their 11-point demand, which includes the reformation of the Media Reform Commission and the declaration of a 100 percent dearness allowance (DA). During the event, leaders from both federations urged the government to heed their demands, warning of more intense actions after the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr if their requests are not met.
