BSIA Delegation Engages with BIDA on Semiconductor Sector Initiatives

Dhaka: A delegation from the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) met with Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), at his office in the city to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the semiconductor sector.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the delegation was led by BSIA President M. A. Jabbar, as stated in a press release. Other attendees included BSIA Directors Kamrul Ahsan Dewanjee and Ashiqur Rahman Tanim, as well as Nahian Rahman Rochi, Head of Business Development, and Johary Bin Akhter, Associate Relationship Manager.



During the bilateral meeting, BSIA presented a written proposal to the Executive Chairman. The proposal outlined plans to organize roadshows in prominent semiconductor nations such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and the USA. It also suggested developing policy frameworks and incentive schemes to attract investment from non-resident Bangladeshis and emphasized the need to implement the recommendations of the Semiconductor Taskforce.



Ashik Chowdhury shared his perspectives on the BSIA proposals, emphasizing the importance of involving relevant ministries and departments to ensure the timely execution of the recommendations. He assured BSIA leaders that their proposals would receive serious consideration and mentioned that a full-time officer has already been assigned at BIDA to oversee the semiconductor sector. He encouraged BSIA leaders to maintain regular communication with this officer for the smooth implementation of these initiatives.
