Dhaka:The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) is taking significant steps toward enhancing the diversity of financial products and developing a sustainable bond framework. The regulator is also working on drafting rules for registered financial advisers and is committed to expanding corporate bonds, Sukuk, Green Bonds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with a target of Tk 50,000 crore in Green Bonds by 2030.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BSEC Commissioner Tanwir Habib Rahman shared the commission's plans during a presentation at the World Investor Week 2026. The regulator aims to introduce artificial intelligence-based market surveillance within the current fiscal year to improve monitoring of the capital market and detect suspicious activities. This initiative is part of BSEC's response to the growing use of technology in financial markets and the associated risks of investment fraud.

The BSEC has already approved a Tk 1,000-crore Green Bond for BRAC Bank, marking a step forward in the commission's efforts to encourage product diversity through Blue Bond, Orange Bond, Sukuk, and other initiatives. The regulator is also focusing on strengthening cybersecurity awareness among investors and market intermediaries to protect against fraud and market manipulation.

Furthermore, the BSEC is actively working to improve investor protection measures. This includes amending public offer rules, facilitating foreign portfolio investment, and implementing educational programs in collaboration with educational authorities. Training initiatives through BICM and BASM programs have already reached over 26,000 individuals in the fiscal year 2025-26, underscoring the commission's commitment to building a resilient investor community.
