Kalatali: Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur: Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) has officially taken over the management and operation of the IT Training and Incubation Center established in Pirganj upazila. This development comes after the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority handed over the center to BRUR in a ceremony attended by university officials.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority conducted a simple handover ceremony where BRUR Registrar Dr Md Harun-or-Rashid received the responsibility for managing the center. The event was graced by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Professor Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Kamlesh Chandra Roy. Other officials from BRUR’s Department of Engineering and Technology, along with other departments, were also in attendance.
BRUR’s management of the center is expected to provide students in the northern region, as well as local youth and entrepreneurs, with opportunities for training, research, and innovation in information technology. The center is poised to significantly contribute to local economic development, employment generation, and the creation of skilled human resources in the technology sector.
BRUR Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali highlighted the significance of receiving the responsibility to operate the center in Pirganj, the birthplace of martyr Abu Sayeed. He noted that this milestone is a result of an agreement signed between the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and BRUR on November 25, 2025, which outlined the transfer of the center’s management to the university.
“We received the responsibility of running the center today as per that agreement,” Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali confirmed.
