BRUR Marks July Uprising Day with Celebratory Events

Dhaka: Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) celebrated July Uprising Day-2025 with a series of events and activities, maintaining the tradition of observing the day with dignity and enthusiasm. The day’s events kicked off with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Md Showkat Ali, marking the start of the festivities.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-Chancellor inaugurated and led a vibrant rally starting from the south gate of the university’s administrative building. The rally saw active participation from teachers, students, officers, and employees of different departments, all carrying banners and festoons, accompanied by musical instruments and a horse-drawn carriage. The procession moved through the main roads of the campus, passing significant landmarks like Shaheed Abu Sayeed Square, Modern intersection, and Park intersection.



Speaking to local journalists after the rally, Prof Dr Md Showkat Ali highlighted the historical significance of the July Uprising in Bangladesh’s history. He emphasized the importance of achieving the objectives of the July movement and praised the sacrifice of martyr Abu Sayeed, noting it as an extraordinary event that continues to inspire the youth today.



The day’s observance at BRUR included various activities such as a friendly match on the university’s playground, with participation from the university community. In the afternoon, a prayer and milad mahfil were organized at the central mosque, seeking blessings for the martyrs and the recovery of those injured during the uprising.



The evening culminated in a fireworks display at the university playground, followed by cultural performances at the Independence Memorial Square. Special meals were arranged for students residing in the university’s three halls, and the campus facilities were illuminated to honor the occasion.
