Rangpur: Academic experts today held a meeting at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), with the aim of formulating an academic master plan to ensure quality higher education and develop the university as a center of excellence. Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali chaired the meeting at the Syndicate Room of the university’s administrative building.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, its Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed, Professor of the Department of Marketing Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, and Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Saifuddin Md. Tariq exchanged views with teachers of six faculties and 22 departments of BRUR as experts.
The experts emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive and contemporary master plan to elevate Begum Rokeya University to a complete university status. They noted that achieving quality higher education would be facilitated through the development of a strategic academic master plan.
The BRUR Vice-chancellor highlighted the importance of a robust master plan in propelling the university to a top position in national rankings. He stated that the success of the academic master plan would rely heavily on an accompanying infrastructural engineering master plan.
“If all facilities for students are ensured according to the academic and engineering master plans, it will be possible to develop BRUR as a center of excellence,” he remarked.
The experts also engaged in discussions with students from various departments, who shared their academic needs and concerns on campus.
Additionally, on Saturday night, the Vice-chancellor and the experts visited the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village under Pirganj upazila. They also met with and talked to the family members of Shaheed Abu Sayeed.
