Rangpur: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) and Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) to advance joint research and development activities. The university's Registrar Dr Md Harun-or-Rashid and IRB's Country Director Talha Jamal signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at the syndicate meeting room of the university.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement aims to promote knowledge exchange through joint research projects, developmental training, and the involvement of teachers and students from the university. This collaboration is expected to provide students with practical knowledge and address developmental challenges in the northern region.
Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating that the MoU with IRB will open doors for joint initiatives in research and other fields. He highlighted that BRUR has already partnered with various institutions to enhance education and research efforts, actively involving students in research activities.
The Vice-chancellor also urged Islamic Relief Bangladesh to offer internship opportunities and scholarships to BRUR students. IRB Country Director Talha Jamal emphasized the benefits of the collaboration, stating that students and stakeholders at BRUR will gain from the IRB's model focused on poverty alleviation and field research. He expressed hope that the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge will elevate the partnership to a unique level.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam, IRB Head of Programme Md Enamul Haque Sarkar, Programme Coordinator Shahinul Hasan, department heads from the Faculty of Social Sciences, teachers, and students.
