BRRI Launches Training Programme on Modern Rice Production

Gazipur: Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) today launched a two-month training program on modern rice production for its scientists. The program was inaugurated at the conference room of the training building at the institute’s headquarters in Gazipur, marking a significant step in enhancing the skills of researchers in rice cultivation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BRRI Training Division organized a workshop titled ‘BRRI Progress and Achievements’ to coincide with the launch of the training program. The workshop and training were inaugurated by the Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), Professor Dr Mobasser Monem, who served as the chief guest for the event. BRRI Director General Dr Mohammad Khalequzzaman chaired the session, highlighting the institute’s ongoing commitment to advancing agricultural research.

During his address, Mobasser Monem emphasized the critical role of agricultural research institutions, particularly BRRI scientists, in ensuring the country’s food security. He acknowledged the efforts of the scientists in developing improved rice varieties, which have been pivotal in sustaining Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.

The event also featured a keynote presentation by BRRI Director (Research) Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, while Director (Administration and Common Services) Dr Munnujan Khanam delivered the welcome address. The training program aims to equip BRRI scientists with advanced knowledge and techniques in rice production, ensuring continued innovation and progress in the field.
