Brigadier General Syed Ashiqur Rahman Joins DSE Board as Independent Director

Dhaka: Brigadier General Syed Ashiqur Rahman has joined the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) as an Independent Director, participating in the bourse’s 1,112th board meeting on Tuesday. His appointment was approved by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on March 30, 2026.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Brigadier General Ashiq has been a commissioned officer of the Bangladesh Army’s Infantry Corps since 1996, bringing nearly three decades of military leadership to the capital market’s premier institution. He successfully led three infantry brigades in 2022, 2023-24, and 2026, and served as Commanding Officer of an infantry battalion from 2013 to 2016.



His staff experience includes roles such as General Staff Officer (Operations)-3 and Brigade Major at an infantry brigade, Director (Planning) at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Headquarters, Colonel Staff at an infantry division, and Assistant Military Secretary to the President at the President’s Secretariat.



Brigadier General Ashiq has also served as Directing Staff and Senior Instructor at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur. His international experience spans three tenures with United Nations peacekeeping missions, including roles in Ivory Coast and Syria.



He holds a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals and has completed several high-level military courses internationally. Brigadier General Ashiq is married to Nazia Ahmed and has two daughters, Syeda Mumtahina Rahman and Syeda Wasifa Rahman.
