A police officer was injured as his daughter attacked him with an anti-cutter in the middle of her wedding ceremony in Rangpur's Pirgachha on Friday night.
Police detained attacker Farzana Akter, daughter of Sub Inspector (SI) Fazal Mahmud.
Kamruzzaman, assistant superintendent of Rangpur District Police (Circle-C), said there was a wedding ceremony of victim police officer Fazal Mahmud's daughter Farzana Akter on Friday.
As she did not agree with this marriage, around 10:30pm, Farzana called her father to her room and started to scratch at her father's throat with the anti-cutter blade, leaving him seriously injured.
He was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and given first aid.
Farzana was detained by the police soon after the incident, said ASP Kamruzzaman, adding that she too is being interrogated.
For now, she may at least have gotten her wish of not being married off, as her act brought the program to a halt.
