Khulna:BRAC Bank, in collaboration with Khulna University, is set to introduce the 'Oporajita Tara' scholarship program aimed at supporting meritorious female students with limited financial means in pursuing higher education.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a delegation from BRAC Bank met with KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Rezaul Karim to discuss the scholarship's launch. BRAC Bank Chief Communication Officer Ikram Kabir highlighted the bank's ongoing efforts to support female students at various universities through the 'Oporajita Tara' scholarship. He announced plans to initially include 100 eligible female students from the university's first and second years under this program.
Kabir expressed BRAC Bank's interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Khulna University to facilitate the program's implementation. He requested the university to form a committee responsible for selecting eligible students in line with the scholarship criteria.
Professor Dr. Md Rezaul Karim welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its significance in enabling students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their education. He noted that financial assistance from the start of academic life can help students continue their studies smoothly and develop their potential. He also mentioned that Khulna University offers various scholarships from its own funds and expressed gratitude to BRAC Bank for their support, assuring the university's cooperation in implementing the program.
The meeting was attended by KU ICT Cell Director Dr. Md Zahidul Islam, BRAC Bank South Bengal Regional Head Al Amin Sheikh, Khulna Cluster Manager Shakil Akhtar, Head of Internal Communication and CSR Shafik R Bhuiyan, and CSR Programme Officer Hanna Anbreen, among others.
