Dhaka: Bangladesh Railway (BR) has successfully collected a total of Taka 877,175 in fare and fines from 4,733 passengers traveling without tickets during a one-day enforcement drive across 146 trains.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was highlighted in a post on Bangladesh Railway's verified Facebook page. The drive took place on Wednesday, focusing on both the East and West Zones of the railway network. In the East Zone, 98 traveling ticket examiners (TTEs) worked across 69 trains, identifying 2,034 passengers without tickets. The East Zone drive resulted in the collection of Taka 293,875 as fare and Taka 130,875 as fines, contributing a total of Taka 424,750 to the Railway's income. Additionally, 2,521 tickets were verified during this operation.
In the West Zone, 88 TTEs were deployed across 77 trains, where they detected 2,699 ticketless passengers. The efforts in this zone led to the collection of Taka 321,810 as fare and Taka 130,615 as fines, totaling Taka 452,425 in revenue for the Railway. Moreover, 1,791 tickets were verified during the drive in the West Zone.
