Satkhira: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive held a teenage boy with 10 pieces of gold bars from Bhomra frontier area in the district today. The detainee was Sumon Islam, 17, hailed from Lakshmidari village in sadar upazila, said a BGB press release. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Commander of 33-BGB battalion Lieutenant Colonel Ashraful Haque stated that, upon receiving information, a team of BGB apprehended Sumon with 10 gold bars in the Falermor area in Bhomra this afternoon. The operation was conducted swiftly, leading to the capture of the teenage suspect and the confiscation of the gold bars. The seized gold bars have since been deposited in the treasury, ensuring they are kept secure while investigations continue. Meanwhile, Sumon was handed over to Satkhira Thana police this afternoon, marking the beginning of formal legal proceedings in connection with the incident.
