Gaibandha: A boy died from electrocution at Majhipara village under Lakhsmipur union of Sadar upazila in the district this morning. The victim was identified as Ananda Kumar, son of Kazal Kumar of the village. He is also a student of seventh grade at Local Lengabazar High School.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, family and local sources reported that there is a poultry farm owned by a man named Tara Miah in the village. Every night, a number of foxes used to come to the farm to eat the eggs of the chickens, prompting Miah to set up an electric trap around the farm to deter the foxes.
On Friday morning, the victim found eggs lying on the ground adjacent to the farm while he was walking alone. At that time, Ananda tried to pick up the eggs and accidentally came in contact with a live wire used for the electric trap and was electrocuted.
Later, he was rushed to the hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
