Dhaka: Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today emphasized that the border of Bangladesh is completely protected, crediting the vigilant presence of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel along the country's frontier. "BGB is always alert at the border. The border is fully secured," he stated during a certificate distribution and closing ceremony for the 137th Survey and Settlement Training Course, held for BCS cadres and officers of the Bangladesh Judicial Service at Tejgaon Bhumi Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the home adviser outlined that proactive measures are being taken to address border security issues, with the cooperation of the public playing a significant role. He expressed optimism that this collaboration will persist, ensuring robust border security. Jahangir reassured, "No one will be able to come to this site (Bangladesh territory). As long as we are alive, our blood will be shed but the border will be secured."
In response to inquiries about previous border security measures, the advisor acknowledged the absence of such steps in the past. He noted that the implementation of recent measures has led to challenges at the border, but reiterated the alertness and commitment of the BGB. He also addressed the situation at the Chapainawabganj border, which arose from disputes over paddy and tree cutting, resulting in injuries on both sides. He clarified that no BGB personnel were injured and that the issue was resolved through discussions between the BGB and BSF.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Senior Secretary of the Land Ministry A S M Saleh Ahmed, Land Reform Commission Chairman AJM Salahuddin Nagari, and Land Appeal Board Chairman Muhamad Ibrahim, under the chairmanship of Dr. Md Mahmud Hasan, Director General of the Department of Land Records and Survey.
