A body of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was
recovered one day after he went missing from the Padma river in Shilaidaha
area under Kumarkhali upazila of the district today.
The ASI was identified as Sadrul who went missing along with another ASI
named Mukul on Sunday night as criminals attacked on their boat that sank in
the Padma river near Char Shadipur area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kumarkhali Thana Nazrul Islam said divers recovered
Sadrul’s body around 3 pm from the river in Shilaidaha area. Another ASI
Mukul who belonged to Kumarkhali Thana is still missing, the OC added.
Search operation is going on in the River Padma under the upazila. Police
personnel were present at the spot when the rescue operation was conducted.
