Body of Missing Journalist Bibhuranjan Sarker Recovered from Meghna River

Munshiganj: The body of journalist Bibhuranjan Sarker, who had been missing since yesterday morning, was recovered from the Meghna river in Munshiganj’s Gajaria upazila this afternoon. His brother Chiroranjan Sarker and son Wreet Sarker identified the body at Munshiganj General Hospital at 9.30pm.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Division, informed the media that river police recovered a body from the Meghna river in the Gajaria area. Police are currently investigating the cause of the death.



His son Wreet Sarker filed a General Diary with Ramna Police Station last night, stating that his father left their Siddheshwari residence at 10:00am yesterday for his office but did not return. Bibhuranjan, 71, was a senior assistant editor at the Bangla daily Ajker Patrika and regularly contributed columns to various media outlets.
